Hypnosis
Strategies for hypnosis treatments can include: hypnotic practices to get rid of the smoking habit, practices to produce smoking denial and self-hypnosis training to be more likely to succeed. Hypnosis tends to be useful as part of a multi-component treatment.
Hypnosis
Hypnotherapy, or hypnosis, is a means of creating a state of deep mental relaxation in which stress, both physical and mental, and tension are reduced. Some in this relaxed psychic state may be more predisposed to suggestion and to the advice of a hypnotherapist specialist to change certain aspects of their behavior or lifestyle (as in the case of smoking).
How does it work?
Hypnotherapy has been widely supported for a number of years as a means of helping smokers quit smoking. The hypnotherapists say that it can influence the implied impulses that cause a person to smoke a cigarette and that can strengthen the will to quit.
How effective is hypnotherapy in those who want to quit smoking?
Some find help with hypnotherapy, but there is no scientific evidence to work. An important analysis of nine studies considered states that hypnotherapy does not increase people's ability to abstain from smoking after six months compared to using other treatments (eg nicotine patches, gums or inhalers) or not using them .
It's safe?
There are few medical conditions that would prevent a person from undergoing hypnotherapy. Almost everyone who wants to be hypnotized can achieve a sufficient level of relaxation to allow the therapy to function properly.
Are there any side effects?
No - most people find it very relaxing. During hypnosis you should remain aware of the surrounding reality and you should be able to exit the hypnotic state at any time.
What are the advantages of this choice?
No nicotine replacement drugs or therapies are involved;
few obvious side effects.
What are the disadvantages of this choice?
It has not yet been proven to work;
it's expensive;
some do not like the thought of being hypnotized.
