can hypnosis help alcoholism

Alcoholism treatment

What to start?
  • It is important to realize that problems can only be solved if expert help is sought. They can not help family members, friends, psychiatrists or the advice of acquaintances. They can only help visits from anonymous alcoholics or a family or therapeutic psychotherapy.

• Patient consent to treatment is often not easy to obtain. The manipulation, the promises, the insistence, the prayers, should not obscure the sound judgment. If so many times the alcoholic has promised and has not kept his promise, it means that not even now can a miracle happen. We must be strict.

• Make a plan and respect it. If the alcoholic does not want to feel right, you must be ready to seek the help of his and your family, friends, the police, his superiors at work. The fact that he does not want this to be known can force him to start treatment. Do not be shy to report cases of violence to the police. Only on the basis of this fact, the judge can make the decision concerning the obligatory treatment.

• Collect materials - sometimes when a person sees the video of how he or she was intoxicated, he may decide to start treatment.

• If the problem does not resolve, you must be ready to leave it. Do not be responsible for the life of another person, only he himself can be saved. Think of yourself and the children.
Treatment and treatment programs

The main objectives of the treatment are: to adequately assess the physical and mental condition of the patient, clean the body from alcohol, help the brain to regenerate and stabilize sleep, eliminate anxiety, hypertension, tremors, tachycardia. After the detoxification it is necessary to proceed to a complex of measures aimed at extinguishing the desire for alcohol, to create indifference, or better yet, the alcohol aversion at the conscious and subconscious level, preparing the patient for the future life without alcohol, teach him how to avoid provocative situations and how to control his behavior. At the end of treatment, it is necessary to pharmacologically block the patient and prevent him from returning to alcohol and maintain these results for at least one year.

Treatment consists of two phases:

• Stationary treatment (in hospital) - the remission formation phase lasts about 7-10 days.

• Outpatient treatment - periodic checks, the maintenance phase of the results, lasts about 12 months.

Hospital treatment includes:
1. Diagnostics

The diagnostic test to assess the physical and mental condition of the patient - is obligatory to make the tests for hepatitis, HIV infection, blood tests; the examination for the functioning of the liver, pancreas, kidneys, cardiovascular system, ECG, examinations by internists, psychiatrists, neurologists. If it is necessary, we do the magnetic resonance or tomography, the EEG, the ultrasounds , expert examinations (endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, etc.). A very important component in the treatment is psychodiagnostics. An expert with a special test evaluates how evident the level of desire for alcohol, anxiety, depression, insomnia, how much the patient is aware of his problems with alcohol, how strong is his motivation for the treatment, how much the mechanisms of the will are preserved. The tests of memory, intelligence, logic, allow to determine the degree of disturbance of mental functions. According to the final diagnosis a treatment plan is created.
2. Detoxification - detoxification from alcohol

 Treatment of alcohol abstinence
Consumption of alcohol, especially if it happens every day, regularly and without pauses, destroys many physiological processes of the body. Often, after a couple of days, the addict loses his appetite, stops eating, becomes thin; at night he can not sleep, he wakes up as soon as he hears some sound, he can not rest. In addition to this, he has a constant need for alcohol. If the concentration of alcohol in the blood decreases, symptoms of the crisis appear (the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal: nervousness, tremors, tachycardia, sweating, need of alcohol, to prolong the agony for at least some time. phase, if the patient alone is stopping drinking, (without drugs), causes the risk of delirium and epileptic attacks.
For this reason, at this stage it is very important to allow the brain to rest with the help of sedatives, protect it with anti-epileptic drugs, regenerate the peripheral nervous system with vitamins, with berliotin and with beta-blockers; stabilize the cardio-vascular system, maintain the liver with a combination of amino acids and hepatoprotectors; with the help of the infusions, eliminate toxins and restore the balance of minerals, because alcoholics often have a lack of very strong magnesium. In this period the use of trans-cranial stimulation devices has proved very effective. These devices help the brain to produce the natural hormones of happiness - endorphins whose synthesis is interrupted by alcohol. As a rule, after two or three days the patient's condition improves significantly, he has a good mood again, sleep, appetite and his strength are recovered.

3. Therapy for psychological dependence

Alcoholism, like any type of addiction, represents a psychological problem. Alcohol changes the patient's personality. He is not able to control his behavior, he is not able to keep his promises. For this reason it is very important to turn off the desire for alcohol, to make him control over his life. In our opinion, this phase is very important - not only is alcohol banned for the patient because of the blockage, but the patient does not need it and without alcohol he feels completely at ease. This is why aversion therapy is conducted, repelling the smell and taste of alcohol, and breaking the alcoholic rituals into subconsciousness. Audiovisual stimulation and information therapy help to inform about the harmful effects of alcohol. Effects that the patient had repeatedly heard from his wife or his parents, but through the audiovisual stimulation finally reach the deep layers of his psyche. Then this information begins to affect his behavior, decisions and actions. The family psychotherapy, individual and in group, prepares the patient for the possible temptations, the disappointments, the stresses present in the life of every person. Symbol drama, transaction analysis and hypnosis allow a person to feel confident in every situation. After the completion of this phase the patient no longer considers the refusal of alcohol as a great sacrifice and demonstrates a positive state of mind.
4. Blocking - alcoholism therapy

There are pharmacological preparations which can cause the unpleasant reaction to the use of alcohol in the patient's body. It is Disulfiram, Lidevin, Сolme. When a patient is treated with blockers, this is a very important element of counter-treatment. Blockers prevent imprudent reactions, impulsive behavior, the satisfaction of momentary desires. Blockers regulate the patient and give security to his relatives. It is recommended to use a long-acting product (implants and depot injections), and prolong drug protection for at least 12 months. After obtaining the blockade, the patient is discharged from the clinic, obtaining indications for further outpatient treatment.

Outpatient treatment Outpatient treatment is a specific plan that must respect both patients and their families. This plan includes: avoiding provocative situations, organizing patients' time, monitoring, taking drugs regularly, exercising, socializing. Clinic allows patients to apply to her for a year at any time in the event of a change in mood, the emergency from anxiety, depression and insomnia. It also provides regular monthly checks. To make everyone work together, both patients and family members, and doctors, and that psychologists help the patient maintain sobriety and not make it feel like a punishment, but a natural state.
